I know from my own experience in Canada that when you&#039;re salaried and in a &quot;career&quot; job, overtime is expected - and more so from single people because they have &quot;no excuse&quot; to be away from the office by a certain time of day. But most of the time, we do get paid for it, even if we&#039;re on salary.</description>
