Great post! A lot of this resonates with my own experience. I find my best ideas are when I have private quiet time like long drives or just before I go to sleep.

Hey Sabrina - you nailed it I reckon. There's a real divide in perception in the business world between creatives and non-creatives. There shouldn't be! I must re brainstorm that the problem lies in not doing it right. It should be competitive, and ideas should not be judged or evaluated during it, so not sure I agree as the study may be looking at brainstorming incorrectly. (Mind you there are better ways to blue-sky ideas than traditional brainstorming). Agree especially with point three. This is a really good post. Thanks

Excellent post. With more than 20 years experience in the video game industry as one of the "creative" guys, I can count only a few really great ideas that came out of brainstorm sessions. And as the person who often had to lead such sessions, I always gave the team plenty of time to think about and respond to the problem or goal following the brainstorm. Several days later is when I would usually get the ideas from the team. Thanks for helping to bust the myth.

I did not know that about brainstorming. I would say, then, that really is a myth.
