What culture of innovation?

Google Analytics? Didn't make it, bought it from Urchin.

Google Docs? Didn't make it, bought it from Writely.

Google Earth? Didn't make it, bought it from Keyhole.

Google AdSense? Didn't make it, bought it from Applied Semantics.

Google AdWords? Didn't make it, copied it from Goto.com.

Google Chrome? Didn't make it, just slapped a UI on Apple WebKit.

FeedBurner? Didn't make it, didn't even rename the company.

Google Maps? Didn't make it, bought it from Where 2 Technologies.

I like Big G. but I also think that they are too powerful nowadays. They paid Firefox a lot of money to be the standard search engine there. They have great tools such as analytics, but they are also gathering a lot of information of everybody.

A very well presented post. However each idea has a shelf life. It must give way to something new. Google did revolutionise internet search however better search engines are possible and would have to be created considering the internet is ever evolving.

I do admire the culture of innovation at Google :)

Technically, we don't need Google. Should Google cease to exist, there would be another search engine that would jump right into its place.
